Motivated by the nationwide discussion about the meaning of economical education in schools, apprenticing companies demanded the introduction of the subject “Economical Studies”. These social groups criticize the missing knowledge of graduates and see a structural problem on the market of apprenticeships. Since 2002 we offer, according to the curriculum, the subject “Economical Studies” (WAT = Economy-Business-Technology).
We decided to offer obligatory and optional studies in this subject. Additional to what is demanded by the curriculum, students can take part in a project called “Students’ Company”.
In 2002 the project „Students‘ Company“ was launched in the subject WAT (Economy, work and technology). Students and teachers discussed contents, methods and organization of this project. From September on 7 students of class 8 founded “Students’ Company „WAT Consume Goods Production“. Later classes 9 and 10 were included. The work was constantly evaluated and presented in public. After 5 years of successful business our company was awarded the IHK-School award 2007 of the IHK Cottbus, which was remunerated with 5000 Euros, and reached the finals of the nationwide award “Fit for Job”. IHK-school award 2007 2007 the student company „WAT- Consume Goods Production“ was awarded the IHK-school award for 5 years enterprising activity.
This award is given to school projects every two years to acknowledge their economical knowledge and included 5.000,- Euros prize money. Year 2007 we got the prize for our activity in producing a distribution of 12 different consumer goods. The results of five years hard work was presented in the presence of education minister Holger Rupprecht from Christin Hensel, Pascal Schulze, Henning Wiese, Marcus Bronk, Monique Sonntag and our Chief Executive Officer Dennis Hude on 29 June 2007. This event was our personal climax since now we were in the centre of attention. There were the press, radio and many important persons. We're so proud of getting this award which will probably help us in the future. So we thank all those people who helped us on this way and especially the school. top |
