O & M - Orientation and Mobility
An important part of pedagogical support at our school are lessons in orientation and mobility.
In these lessons you learn to be independent at home and outside.

Why are the lessons in orientation and mobility important?

Blindness and visually impairment limit the abilities for independent orientation and mobility. Visually handicapped and blind people develop fears, especially in unknown places. They think they need help.

You ask yourself…

How can a blind or visually handicapped person come along in unknown places, buildings or road traffic? Is it possible to go shopping or go by bus when you are visually handicapped?

Now the O & M lessons begin.

The goal is the independent orientation in and outside our buildings and in traffic with the use of a cane and other technical aids.

Which things can you learn in O & M?

  • saving the body
  • using the cane
  • using optical aids
  • shopping in a super market
  • crossing streets
  • and much more
